Tengu

Acrylic on canvas, 73 cm × 92 cm, 2025

This piece re-imagines the mythical Tengu, spirit of Japan’s forests and mountains. Its prominent nose—symbol of arrogance and power—takes an unprecedented turn, emerging from a geometric, modular, almost mechanical structure.

The cold steel tones contrast with the soft pink of the face, subtly evoking the traditional mask.

Half-human, half-spirit, this Tengu transcends eras and materials, shifting from ancestral guardian to modern-day hero.
